The Speaker Lab company made kits in the 1970s. They offered various designs and sold many, many kits to people across the country (Speaker Lab was based out of Seattle). I was gifted a set of Speaker Lab 6's (sixes) that were in working condition, but the cabinets were in poor shape. I repaired the wood professionally. The speakers are very large but they have a small footprint. They sound incredible. Selling them bundled with a workhorse power amplifier that I have had for about 10 years. I would be happy to provide you with the amp's serial number if you wish to date the Ashly PowerFlex 6250 power amp. The PowerFlex amp sells for anywhere from $350 to 700 dollars, with an MSRP of around $1700 when new. I purchased 3 of the same power amp and sold one back when I got into Pro Audio. I've had two of these working power amps. They are very loud with 150 watts per channel into 8 ohms! They can also drive 70V distributed lines. There are 3 separate power amp modules in the amplifier, allowing you to drive as many as 6 speakers at the full 150 watts.
The Speaker Lab speakers have EV Horn midranges that I looked up and found some listings for a set of the horns for $800 (also saw them listed for $300 elsewhere). They are vintage speaker drivers and they produce incredible SPL. I have tested them to the point where the woofers are exciting the crossover board. This issue could be dealt with by reinforcing the crossover mounts or potentially even removing the crossovers and putting a new rear board in place (you would need to build an external "chassis" for the crossover, which could be a fun/rewarding DIY audio project). I'm asking $2000 for the pair of HiFi speakers because they sound that good. The spacial effect of having the tweeters closer to chest height is part of what makes them sound so lifelike. Please email or call with any reasonable offers. Not interested in trades.
