This was an amazing book to read that features the devastating blizzard of 1888 in the Great Plains of the US that struck the immigrants living on the frontier.
Even if you are anti-immigration, I think this book is a must-read, as it tells you what life was like for these people in the states and territories of the midwest. These people left the homes that they had for generations, lured over here by lies and embellishments to give territories enough population to become states and build the infrastructure for the expanding US.
The events of this story may be fictional, but they are very much based on reality and the lived experiences of the people who survived.
