condition: excellent
make / manufacturer: Moss Manufacturing
My grandmother purchased this new. As a child I remember being hypnotized by the spinning dancer and I never saw anything like it, then or now.

This lamp is made of Lucite/Plexiglas with the Bali dancer painted ceramic figurine inspired by California artist Hedi Schoop for Moss Manufacturing. Also known as "The lamps that spin" because of the fascinating rotation of the figurine. That is the true signature of the Moss Manufacturing Co. started by Gerry Moss in San Francisco, CA.

The Bali Dancer figurine is ceramic and stands 12" inches tall. Figurine has a horizontal surface crack that does not appear to go through the interior of the ceramic. Reference photo.

The lamp stands approx. 29" inches tall from the bottom of the base to the top of the finial. The lamp bases are made of white Lucite/Plexiglas. The back panels are splattered with gold and framed with gold trim columns. Both columns have slight hairline cracks that barely noticeable. The shade is the original spun glass Moss shade, that came with the lamp, so it has discolored over time. Original shades are very rare to find in this condition.

In addition to the overhead light, the platform of the base has two small bulbs that light as well, with a separate switch. A new modified D, replacement motor lies underneath the platform base. The overhead light, the platform light or the rotating figurine can be run all together or separately. All bulbs light and most importantly the figurine spins, which sets Moss Manufacturing on the historical map. So much so, they wrote a book about them. This is in original condition except the new modified motor and finial, which makes this an extremely rare find.
