Charles A. Colombo (1927-2015) was a descendant of gifted American artists and craftspeople.
He studied under Frank E. Schoonover and his uncle, noted illustrator Charles DeFeo, and graduated from The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
He was a third-generation artist of the Brandywine Tradition founded by master teacher Howard Pyle. He was a member of the distinguished American Water Color Society and is noted as one of America's leading contemporary artists. For close to 50 years, he created beautiful pieces of art in a small studio on E. 13th St. in Wilmington, De.
His prints and paintings gained a following with works in several museums. such as the Delaware Art Museum and Hagley Museum, and collections of luminaries including Princess Grace, Henry Fonda, Sammy Davis Jr. and former U.S. President Joe Biden.
