Although it remains among the most traditional areas of the country, it is also the poorest and less developed part in terms of infrastructure or industry; creating a huge rural exodus and migration from the Isan inhabitants to Bangkok. The Khueang Nai District administration wants to dynamize the Deng Mor rural areas and stimulate English learning through the international volunteers' presence. The main target group of the project will be young people and children. Inside this larger framework, each project will address the specific target group in different villages in the Deng Mor area.
Cultural exchange is the main work of the project. The volunteers will discover the typical Isan culture and traditions, visiting villagers, farmers and local artisans, helping them in their tasks. The volunteers will also hold English teaching workshops for the children of several district villages. The exact nature of the work will depend of the needs of the village at the time of the project.
Study theme: The volunteers will learn about the culture of rural Thailand in general and the traditions and specificity of the Isan region. Thai language lessons will also be given to the volunteers.
Special requirements: A correct level of English language and the will to teach it to kids is obviously necessary. The volunteers need also to be motivated to discover Thai culture and to present the one of their country of origin.
Leisure time: Leisure time will be organised by the volunteers with the support of the group leader. The closest city is far but accessible. The region isn't very tourist attractive as such but the nature is of extraordinary beauty: rice fields, small temples and natural parks are all over the region.
New years Eve, according to the Thai Buddhist calendar takes place in April. The volunteers in the April group will have the great chance to attend the ceremonies and festivities in the village with the local population.
Accommodation: The volunteers will be hosted in a traditional Isan house in the community and have access to the same basic conditions as any villager.
Location: The Deng Mor sub-district area is about 20 km far from Khueang Nai city and 60 km north west of Ubon Ratchatani city, in the Isan region, North east of Thailand.
Age range: 18 and over

For more details visit: www.cadip.org/volunteer-in-thailand.htm

For volunteer opportunities in other countries go to: www.cadip.orgor give us a call:
  617-502-0400

     604-628-7400

At Faithful Friends we believe there is a better way to solve the problems of pet overpopulation and homelessness than mass euthanasia or long-term warehousing in cold, comfortless cages. Today more than 60% of all homeless cats and dogs in our communities are destroyed. That is over 12,000 pets a year who lose their lives in our small state! Our goal is to build on the success of the most forward -thinking leaders in animal welfare who are spearheading a national no-kill movement and reducing euthanasia rates to under 15%.

Faithful Friends has a 10,000 square-foot no-kill shelter in Wilmington. With your support,we serve 1,200 animals and 5,000 people annually through our programs. We’re moving ahead with our vision for a better future and we need your help to reach our goals. We are seeking 15+ acres in New Castle County to build:

• A State-of-the-Art Adoption Center where animals can live in a stress-free setting that prepares them for a life with a new family. The center will enable us to increase adoptions and serve thousands of animals each year.
• A Sanctuary to provide space for animals to run and play and a lifelong home for those whose special needs, age, illness or temperament are impediments to adoption.
• A Full Medical Facility to ensure excellent medical care for the animals in our care and to expand our spay/neuter programs for the community.

Come join our efforts today! Thank you!

As if hoisting someone elses personal belongs isn't enough they'd go ahead and steal your heart too, if it wasn't for one's own will-power to be free from such greed. I've seen these kinds of people before and I don''t plan on letting them into my life again. This needs to stop! All of our ignorance....all of our animosity....all of our ego-centric attitudes bent on serving our selfish desires. We have so much more potential. We can achieve so much more. All you thieves out there better recognize, what goes around comes around and that aint no watered down story in history. Who's most familiar with the Golden Rule anyways? Cooks?

This year the hurricane Jimena has lashed the city of Guaymas leaving an important level of rain. 2009 is the year when it rained the most (in the last 50 years) and this caused an important damage to the population of Guaymas and to the city. The hurricane affected people of all backgrounds, leaving a lot of people in the middle of nowhere since they lost everything they had. Everything was affected, public buildings, leisure areas, houses, schools, there was no place that was not affected.
This international volunteer project is organized in order to help in the reconstruction of the city of Guaymas with the support of motivated volunteers. There are many things to be done since there were several areas seriously affected. We need help to clean beaches, to rebuild sportive spaces, to clean up parks and community spaces, to fix roads, to help in rural communities by giving health workshops.
After the hurricane, the children affected don’t have a place to continue their studies, they lost everything they had for their education: material, furniture, the roof collapsed and the walls were damaged because of the water and humidity. For that reason, at this first stage, the goal of the project is renovating and reconstructing two schools damaged by the Jimena Hurricane, so the children affected can return to their educative activities as soon as possible and in a clean and healthy environment, appropriate for their development and with the support of the international volunteers. This project will benefit 25 families for the first school and 180 families for the second school.
Volunteers will help with the reconstruction of the two schools affected. They will help with reconstruction activities such as painting walls, reforestation, and cleaning the schools. They will contribute to renovate these structures through scratching and painting walls, and will also do some artistic work such as painting murals on the walls of the schools with the help of local volunteers with landscapes and thematic appropriate for the children. The volunteers will also help planting trees and reforesting the affected area, making and putting signals and signs.
Age range: 18 and over

For more details visit: www.cadip.org/volunteer-in-mexico.htm or give us a call: 617-502-0400 (US); 604-628-7400 (Canada)

For volunteer opportunities in other countries click here: www.cadip.org

Ayurveda is a 5000 years old Indian health care system that is widely practiced even today. "Ayur" in Sanskrit means "life" and "Veda" means "science". It is a perfect Science of health and longevity. This holistic science is the knowledge of complete balance of the body, mind and spirit, including the emotions and psychology, on all levels. It includes in its consideration, longevity, rejuvenation and self-realization therapies through herbs, diet, exercise, yoga, massage, aromas, tantras, mantras, and meditation. According to Ayurvedic tradition, health is the balance of elements air, earth, fire, and water, and illness is an excess or deficiency of any particular element. Ayurveda treats illness at its source, rather than at the level of symptoms, and helps an individual to take responsibility for their own health and well being. Ayurveda is also known as 'Ashtanga Veda' (the word literally means 'Eight branches of knowledge') as it is divided into eight specialized branches.
Yoga is a complete science of life that originated in India several thousands of years ago. It is the oldest system of personal development in the world, encompassing the entire body, mind and spirit. It is the union between a person's own consciousness and the universal consciousness. The classical techniques of Yoga date back more than 5,000 years. The word Yoga means "to join or yoke together," and it brings the body and mind together into one harmonious experience.
The volunteers will be learning the Basics of Yoga and Ayurveda in these three weeks of the project. Every day, there will be topics covered by a professional master (the person in charge of yoga and ayurveda classes), which will be practiced by the volunteers. Yoga will be practiced every day.
Apart from this, the volunteers will also help at the herbal garden and the nearby school. Furthermore, the volunteers will support a local school in need of simple renovation work. The volunteers will also interact with the children teaching them basic English and Mathematics, Health and Hygiene awareness, environmental protection, etc.

And we need you!

hi, I will try to make this short...this isn't a scam. My mom has cancer in her liver, she had half of it removed, and is in a clinical trial. She needs to go to MA for the second part of the trial. She had the surgery Nov 5th for her liver, spent a week in the hospital...then came out of hospital and slipped and fell and broke her back. She had back surgery last week on her back, and now she has to start the second phase of her treatment. I am trying to raise 300 for her to go to cover her co pay and a hotel ( because its a 7 hour ride each way...and with a broken back) I work 6 days a week, to help her, but I am also raising 2 kids on my own and we can't afford this. I have raised 30.00 so far..I set up a paypal account...if you can spare 5.00 to donate , and good things will come to you. I wish you and your family a happy holiday. james11047@comcast.net

The pagoda is now a place of charity for unlucky children and also helps treat diseases. Now, the pagoda is taking care and bringing up more than 200 children in the South of Vietnam. The children here have unfortunate backgrounds as many have been abandoned by their parents and relatives. The head monk sometimes receives phone calls from hospitals requesting him to take in abandoned babies. At the moment, about 200 children are living in the Pagoda, their ages ranging from 5 days old to 40 years old. 90 of these are orphans that are suffering from cerebral-palsy, blindness or Down's syndrome.
Natural Mystic is a non-profit organization that focuses on the underprivileged youth. We're in the process of organization an event for August 2010 for the youth in our community. I started this organization to focus on underprivileged sick children. Even though this is still our focus, we are dedicating this event to the youth who don't have that positive voice in their lives. Some of these kids have an absent father or mother or both and don't have that special someone to look up to so there are some that will resort to a life of alienation, depression, alcohol/drug abuse, etc.

At this event, we will have motivational speakers, workshops that encourage positive life skills and promote a positive outlook on life. Also we will feature a talent show as well as other activities in the afternoon and a headlining artist(s) will be featured in the evening.

The organization is looking for volunteers to help organize this event. Experience of event planning is a plus but not required.

About Me:
Being the CEO of this organization, I am no stranger to the world of entertainment. Being a first cousin of the legendary Bob Marley has opened doors and allowed me to experience the entertainment industry first hand. It is my aim and desire to give back to the community through organizing this event.
