Pay:
Each class will take approximately 2 hours to complete as you are required to be on-site 30 minutes before your class begins and it takes about 30 minutes to make sure kids are delivered safely to parents and to clean up. Mad Science pays a starting rate of $25.00 per one-hour class. With set up and tear down it averages about $12.50 per hour.
Mileage reimbursement may be available. Training is paid $8.00 per hour.
How The Job Works:
* We offer our after-school programs in local elementary schools (throughout New Castle County)
* Parents voluntarily sign up their children in a Mad Science class that meets one time per week for 6 or 8 weeks.
* There is a maximum of 20-25 students (in grades K-6) in a class with one instructor. Kids work in small groups during class.
* The classes last one hour and start immediately when the school day ends(usually 2:45pm - 4:00pm, depending on the school).
* Mad Science instructors are required to be on campus at least 30 minutes prior to the start of class.
* It takes 15-30 minutes to clean up after class.
* We provide all the training, equipment and supplies.
* ALL instructors must attend our weekly science kit exchange on Friday afternoon at 3:30 pm. This meeting is 15-30 minutes in length and you are paid $10.00 for attending.
* We need a firm commitment from all of our instructors to teach a complete session and finish the set of 6 or 8 week classes because we want the children to get to know their Mad Scientist and you to know the children. If you can not make this commitment, please do not apply. We prefer people who could commit to the whole season (Sept.-Dec.) or year (Sept.-March).

* We provide the script and materials; you furnish the performance.
* After training, you will take the party kit home and practice it.
* You will then perform the party in front of some of the Mad Science office personnel.
* Your first party will be with a Mad Science Senior Presenter.
